Adding Product Attributes
- Log in and go to Product/Attributes
- Click the ‘new attribute’ link at the top left of the page
- Add the Name of the new attribute in the Name box
- Name is typically in three parts:
- Type of attribute like ‘color’ or ‘size’
- Product SKU
- Abbreviated product supplier or manufacturer name, like ‘san’ for Sanmar
- Example Attribute Name would be: color-8000-san
- Name is typically in three parts:
- Add an alias, like ‘color’ or ‘size’ in the Alias box
- Click the Add button
- If you have additional Attribute groups to add, repeat the above, to create each one.
- Once you have your Attribute(s) created, you can now go and add the values.
- Use the ‘name begins with…’ box and go button to find one of your newly created attributes
- You can type ‘color-8000’ to find any attribute that starts with ‘color-8000’
- Alternately, you can type ‘%8000’ to get a list of any attributes that contain ‘8000’ in the name
- When you find your new attribute, click ‘Edit’ on the far right
- In the Value box, type in the first value for the attribute group, like ‘black’ and click Add
- Repeat for all the values in the attribute group.
- The list will auto-sort to be alphabetical
- You can click Select on a value row and use the arrows to move a value up or down in the sort order.
- This comes in handy mostly for sizes as size names and acutal size order does not match
- When all values have been added, click ‘Update’ on the left
- Repeat for other new attibute groups you created
Once your attributes are created, you can add them to a Family.
